Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., invites the faithful from the Diocese of Trenton and beyond to pray with him a Novena to St. Joseph to End Abortion.
From Jan. 14 to Jan. 22, the Bishop will lead a daily broadcast of the novena – part of prayer and advocacy observances throughout the month to support the sanctity of life in the womb.
Jan. 22 is the 48th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion in the United States. In this “Year of St. Joseph,” the faithful are asked to pray for an end abortion.
NOVENA TO ST. JOSEPH TO END ABORTION
St. Joseph, Patron of the Universal Church and Guardian of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Child Jesus, the Son of God whom she carried in her Immaculate womb: intercede for us, we pray, that all recourse to abortion might cease in our nation and our world. As your cared for Mother and Child, care for all women who bear the gift of life in their womb. May no harm ever endanger them and may no choice ever threaten the blessing of human life that God has created within. Guard them with your loving protection, at every moment, until His will has been fulfilled. St. Joseph, spouse of Mary and foster father of the Lord, help us build a culture of life that yields a civilization of love among us.
Say the “Our Father,” the “Hail Mary” and the “Glory Be” after the novena prayer.

Keep the faith and see you in church soon. Father Richard.
Jesus Christ, you traveled through towns and villages “curing every disease and illness.” At your command, the sick were made well. Come to our aid now, in the midst of the global spread of the coronavirus, that we may experience your healing love. Heal those who are sick with the virus. May they regain their strength and health through quality medical care. Heal us from our fear, which prevents nations from working together and neighbors from helping one another. Heal us from our pride, which can make us claim invulnerability to a disease that knows no borders. Amen.
The Diocese of Trenton is committed to the initiatives outlined in the U.S. Bishop's charter for the Protection of Children and Young People in regard to the reporting and investigations of sexual abuse allegations involving minors.
If you have been sexually abused as a minor by a member of the clergy or anyone representing the Catholic Church, or if you know of someone who was, you can report that abuse through the Diocesan Abuse Hotline: 1-888-296-2965 or via email at abuseline@dioceseoftrenton.org.
The diocese of Trenton reports any allegations of sexual abuse to the appropriate law enforcement agencies. Anyone with an allegation is also encouraged to provide that information to local law enforcement authorities.
