The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, or RCIA, is a process through which individuals, adults and children, journey to learn more about the Catholic Faith. This journey is traveled with the anticipation of being initiated into the Roman Catholic faith. We at St. Pius X Parish are happy that the Lord has called you to journey with Him in this spiritual process. We will do all we can not only to assist you in this journey but to walk with you.
RCIA is for three groups of people
RCIA classes for adults, ages 18 or older, begin during September and culminate at the Easter Vigil in the reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. The sessions are held on Sunday mornings following the 10 a.m. Mass in the Meeting Room located off the Narthex. These sessions are open to all who are curious about Catholicism. There is no obligation to enter into the Church. For more information or to sign up for RCIA, contact the parish office at (609) 693-5107.
Children/Youth: The youth process, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC), begins the middle of September. Sessions are held on Wednesday evenings in the CCD building behind the Church. Modeled on the adult process, catechists lead children in “lectionary-based catechesis”, helping them to identify their own journey with God and understand the Gospel message at their stage of maturity. This process generally takes at least two years depending on the support of the child’s parents and the progress of the child in coming to an understanding of the faith at their grade level.
